About to go snow skiing for first time. Or should I board?

n8sloth asked: I have no experience with skiing or snowboarding (or water skiing and wake boarding for that matter), so my abilities are awful to begin with. Would I better suited to to begin on skis or a snow board? Why? Do you have any advice for me? Thanks!
